I would like to a say a very big thank you to St Martin's Press for providing me with a review copy of this awesome book.

I COULD NOT put this book down. I pretty much devoured the entire book word for word. It’s been a while since I’ve read a good psychological thriller and this is exactly what that was! A twisty, gripping, edge of your seat, hang on every word suspenseful thriller.

The Night Before by Wendy Walker follows one main character, Laura Lochner. Laura has never been lucky with love and always ends up dating the type of guys that aren’t good for her. After her most recent breakup, she was left completely devastated and decided to move back to her home town in Branston, CT and away from her demanding Wall Street job in NYC and her familiar surroundings. Laura stays with her happy-go lucky sister Rosie in the suburbs of Connecticut. Rosie is basically everything Laura isn’t. Married to a devoted husband Joe, with an adorable little toddler, she’s feminine, generally positive and just gets on with life without a care in the world. Laura always seems to struggle with the basics of life and also has low self esteem. Laura is still haunted by a terrible tragedy that happened in her hometown many years ago, but she is determined to make her new life work. She signs up for an online dating profile and wants to have a more positive outlook on dating so she decides to just go for it, which her sister helps her do. Rosie, has always looked out for her sister, and although Laura’s return has been wonderful, it seems to have rocked things in her household especially the night that Laura goes on her first date from the online profile.

When Laura does not return home that night from her date, Rosie begins to panic and starts to fear the worst. Laura does not respond to any texts or calls. Rosie begins to fear for Laura’s safety but not just that, she also fears about what Laura may have done to him. Especially with Laura’s past.

I will leave the plot at that! I don’t want to give too much away, hate spoilers! This book literary kept me at the edge of my seat. It had some amazing twists that I didn't see coming at all! You sort of start to guess what may be happening but then you get hit with a plot twist and your like what?! There are quite a few of those twists there too. I kid you not. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book a whole lot. I also liked that it centered on the whole online dating system which is very telling for the times that we live in. A modern thriller. It’s a classic psychological thriller that is very smart, witty and wonderfully tense. I found myself wanting to eagerly pick up the book whenever I wasn’t reading it. That to me is a good sign of a great book. It’s also a very easy read, and you can pick up where you left of very easily. The author has great writing style too and the characters and story stay vividly in your imagination.

I haven’t enjoyed a good thriller like this in a long long time. I highly recommend The Night Before if you are a fan of all things suspense and thrillers!
